The Ice Ribbon Lake is located on the southwest side of the venue and adjacent to the Monument of Zhaohui.
It is an artificial landscape lake of the National Speed Skating Oval, including water falling from landscape and an oval water system.
As a whole, it resembles the Chinese character of winter. The lake and the main building connect with each other neatly and enhance each other's beauty, implying that the flying ribbons will connect the whole world.
This is the reason why the artificial lake is named the "Ice Ribbon Lake".
Most pavements outside the National Speed Skating Oval are permeable. The pavements can reduce excess surface water, improve flood control capacity, and increase groundwater replenishment.
In addition, the organized rainwater return can help include rainwater control, purification, and utilization in the actual constructions to turn rainwater into useful resources.
The rainwater collected is re-injected into the "Ice Ribbon Lake" through the storage tank to supply water to the sprinkling irrigation system that nourishes the garden landscapes on a daily basis.
Therefore, the water is regulated, stored, and recycled.
Besides, it can also be used as an outdoor natural skating rink for ice skating enthusiasts to experience ice sports after the temperature drops in winter.
As the utilization of the peripheral spaces has been fully considered at the beginning of the venue design, a race track for matches in both winter and summer has been built along the lake.
Seen from the perspective of the overall landscape, it has formed a sports and leisure complex featuring one lake, one stadium, and one track.
Visitors also show a strong interest in the "legacy of the Double Olympics."
