VIP Stand
The VIP stand of the "Ice Ribbon" is located in the middle of the second floor on the east side. The furniture and seats on site feature a simple style. The good position provides guests with a perfect angle for watching the games.
The VIP stand is inlaid with 187 snowflakes, the shapes of which are derived from snowflakes on championship medals. The figure 187 symbolizes the total number of gold medals in the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
Ice-making Model
It is located in the second-floor stand area on the east side. The National Speed Skating Oval uses the CO2 transcritical direct cooling ice-making technology.
The temperature of the full ice surface design measuring 12,000 square meters can be controlled from -6°C to -11°C. The water for ice making and resurfacing is processed with two-stage reverse osmosis and continuous electric desalination technology to improve the water purity and the ice surface hardness, which can help athletes improve their performance.
With indoor environment control, comprehensive energy saving, and other key technologies, the temperature, thickness, stability, and other parameters of the ice surface are controlled precisely. The temperature difference of the 400-meter-long ice course is no more than 1°C, enabling the "fastest ice" (the temperature of the ice surface is -11°C to -6°C, and the temperature of the space 1.5 meters above the ice surface is 13°C to 15°C).
The temperature in the audience seating area is 16°C, helping speed skaters achieve excellent results.
