2022
  • On February 19, 2022, the National Speed Skating Oval (the "Ice Ribbon") completed all services and support for speed skating competitions of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. During the Games, 166 athletes from 27 countries and regions participated in 14 events held here. They broke Olympic records 13 times and world records once. Beijing Winter Olympic Games equaled the SLC Winter Olympic Games in 2002 (with ten Olympic records), becoming the Winter Olympic Games with the most Olympic speed skating records.
  • After the event, the Ice Ribbon will adhere to the concept of comprehensive and low-carbon utilization, provide sports events, mass fitness, cultural leisure, exhibitions and presentations, social activities for public good, and other functions, incorporating more "Chinese elements" in its operation and management, and becoming an important window to showcase the unique charm of Chinese culture and a gorgeous "name card" to demonstrate the development of ice and snow sports in China.
2021
  • In January 2021, the first ice-making commissioning was completed. The test activity in April was completed successfully;
  • On June 29, 2021, five parties completed the project acceptance.
  • On July 28, 2021, the main venue and the underground garage in the east area, and the west underground parking garage, an ancillary facility, were accepted and filed.
  • From October 8 to 10, 2021, the Experience Beijing Speed Skating China Open was held in the venue successfully.
2020
  • Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the first half of 2020, all construction units adopted precise policies, and resumed work while following the "zero case" policy.
  • On October 24, 2020, the construction of the ice slab structure layer measuring 12,000 square meters was completed.
  • On December 3, 10, and 24, the heating system, the main power distribution room, and the water supply system were put into use.
  • On December 25, "five parties" inspected and accepted the main venue project. On December 30, the project was officially accepted.
2019
  • On March 19, 2019, the stabilization cables were tensed to form the sky curtain.
  • On April 26, 2019, the ring truss support was locked, and the steel structure construction was completed.
  • On November 28, 2019, the curved glass units of the curtain walls were installed.
  • On December 31, 2019, the flying "Ice Ribbon" took shape after it was roofed and enclosed.
2018
  • On January 16, 2018, the consortium led by Beijing Capital Development Holding (Group) Co., Ltd. won the bid for the PPP project of the National Speed Skating Oval.
  • On February 28, 2018, Beijing National Speed Skating Oval Operation Co., Ltd. was established.
  • On June 15 and 26, 2018, the west garage and the underground structure of the main venue were roofed.
  • On September 30, 2018, the main structure on the ground was erected.
  • On November 22, 2018, the ring truss of the steel structure was slid to the designated place. On December 28, the cable net was waved and lifted.
2017
  • On April 25, 2017, the design scheme for the Ice Ribbon was determined.
  • On April 28, 2017, the foundation stone of the National Speed Skating Oval was laid.
2016
  • On August 22, 2016, Beijing State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd. was designated as the government investment party.
